Description
I am a born and raised PG girl, and the proud mom of 3 amazing girls. Most of my career has been in management, beginning with McDonald’s Restaurants. I started there when I was 15 years old, and worked into a shift manager, and eventually into a Restaurant Manager. I loved my job with McDonald’s, working with young adults as they developed their work ethics was by far the best part. They kept me young at heart, and made everyday an adventure.
I left McDonald’s after 11 years, and moved onto BMO Bank of Montreal, as an Assistant Branch Manager. This was definitely a challenge, and, with little to no banking experience, I had to rely on my management background and work ethic. That was when I experienced Relay For Life for the first time with colleagues, and was struck by the beauty of the Luminary Ceremony. Little did I know that the following January my mom would be diagnosed with cancer.
After her diagnosis, life completely changed. Our family then started our Relay team, as a way to encourage her and show our support. I’ll never forget standing, waiting for the Survivor Victory Lap with her, and watching her soak up the energy and passion from the community around her. That was the most inspiring thing I have ever seen.
After she passed away, my outlook on life was drastically changed and I had to do something to continue her fight. I began volunteering with Relay, as a give back for the inspiration they had given to my mom, and quickly found a new passion.
I am now the Coordinator of the Prince George Relay For Life, a dream job that I am thankful for everyday. I have the privilege of being a small part of an incredible volunteer team, who is simply incredible. They are passionate, dedicated, and the most creative people I have ever worked with.
